Forbes Australia is looking for smart and curious journalists to cover business, finance, entrepreneurism, technology, leadership and behavioural economics. Our ideal candidate understands the breadth of the beat and has experience writing about business, finance, markets, and entrepreneurship, pursues big scoops relentlessly, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where teamwork and creativity are highly valued.
Responsibilities
- Interview and report on the entrepreneurial, financial and business communities in Australia
- Research, analyse and interpret information and data.
- Exercise judgement to find impactful stories
- Contribute to content idea generation for publication including lists.
- Stay up-to-date with the entrepreneurial, financial and business communities in Australia
- Cover Australia’s most successful leaders, entrepreneurs and companies
- Monitor business deals and consumer news
- Contribute to Forbes Australia’s flagship lists
- Write longer-form stories and investigative pieces for the website and the magazine
- Track trends and write engaging stories on subjects that include uncovering and dissecting the strategies behind billionaire fortunes, the rise of behavioural economics and its influence on organisations, innovative start-up’s and entrepreneurs that are transforming their industries.
Requirements
- Proven work experience as a staff writer or reporter; covering business, finance or economics.
- Broad knowledge of business, finance and entrepreneurial communities
- Demonstrable portfolio of published articles
- Excellent writing skills
- Ability to follow strict deadlines and fact-check information.
- BSc degree in journalism, business, economics or relevant field.
- Computer proficiency (MS Office, digital editing, web search and databases).
Forbes Australia aims to offer employees the flexibility they need in order to be successful. As we are a start-up, the role will initially be office based with the intention to introduce a hybrid work schedule for our employees after 3 months. Our head office is located in a creative office in Pyrmont, NSW.
